De l’enclave au paysage traversé

Ce projet prend place à São Cristóvão, quartier périphérique de Rio de Janeiro, autour d’un bâtiment issu de la modernité brésilienne, aujourd’hui occupé par un marché populaire dédié aux traditions du Nordeste. Enclavé par des infrastructures routières à plusieurs niveaux, le vaste terrain qui l’entoure est minéralisé, grillagé, peu traversable. Ce PFE propose de transformer cet entre-deux en un parc traversant, évolutif, composé de fragments contextuels au service du quartier comme du bâtiment. Le projet articule trois échelles de lecture et d’intervention : l’échelle architecturale, à travers la présence forte du pavillon ; celle du voisinage, par les usages ordinaires et les cheminements quotidiens ; et l’échelle urbaine, en lien avec les grandes infrastructures et les dynamiques de transformation du territoire. Construit dans le temps long, il interroge la réversibilité du vide urbaine comme matrice de projet.
This project takes place in São Cristóvão, an outlying district of Rio de Janeiro, around a building born of Brazilian modernity, now occupied by a popular market dedicated to the traditions of the Nordeste. Hemmed in by multi-level road infrastructures, the vast surrounding land is mineralized, fenced in and difficult to cross. This PFE proposes to transform this in-between space into an evolving, walk-through park, made up of contextual fragments at the service of both the neighborhood and the building. The project articulates three scales of reading and intervention: the architectural scale, through the strong presence of the pavilion; the neighborhood scale, through ordinary uses and daily pathways; and the urban scale, in connection with major infrastructures and the dynamics of territorial transformation. Built over a long period of time, it questions the reversibility of the urban void as a project matrix.
